Emirates is once again raising the bar for passenger comfort with the introduction of the world’s first U-Dream Headrest, an innovative new feature designed to transform the Economy Class travel experience.
Already being installed across the airline’s growing fleet, the advanced headrest represents a significant investment in passenger wellbeing and reinforces Emirates’ reputation for delivering premium comfort throughout every cabin.

Developed in partnership with Safran Seats as part of the airline’s latest Z400 Economy seat, the U-Dream headrest has been engineered to provide superior ergonomic support during sleep and relaxation. Its soft leather construction features adjustable side wings that fold inward to cradle the head and neck, helping prevent the uncomfortable forward or sideways movement that often disrupts rest on long-haul flights.
The headrest also offers vertical adjustment and tilt functionality, allowing passengers of different heights to personalise their seating position for maximum comfort. Independently certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the design combines innovation with the highest safety standards.

“The U-Dream changes the game if the person wants to sleep – by supporting the neck in full. No more neck pillows needed. It’s another innovation that shows our commitment to customers and cements our Economy Class as the best,” said Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline.
The U-Dream is already flying on Emirates’ newest Airbus A350 aircraft, with the airline accelerating installation across the fleet. Every new A350 will feature the headrest by the end of the year, while all 270 Boeing 777X aircraft on order will be delivered with the system installed. From 2027, Emirates will begin retrofitting the headrest across its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleets.
The launch of the U-Dream headrest forms part of Emirates’ wider commitment to elevating the Economy Class experience. Operating an all-widebody fleet of Airbus A350s, A380s and Boeing 777s, the airline already offers passengers spacious cabins, generous legroom, award-winning inflight entertainment, complimentary Wi-Fi, quality dining and renowned onboard service.

Passengers travelling on the latest Airbus A350 also benefit from 3-3-3 seating, expansive 13.3-inch 4K entertainment screens, USB-C charging, higher cabin ceilings and Emirates’ latest generation seating designed specifically for long-haul comfort.
With the introduction of the U-Dream Headrest, Emirates once again demonstrates that innovation is not reserved for premium cabins alone. By bringing enhanced ergonomic support to Economy Class, the airline continues to set new benchmarks for passenger comfort and redefine expectations for long-haul travel.
