FORMIA, the international guest amenity and hospitality specialist, is proud to be collaborating with American Airlines to introduce new onboard amenity kits for premium cabin customers in partnership with luxury design brand, Shinola, and New York based perfumers, D.S. & Durga.

The new amenity kits that American provides for premium customers on long-haul international and transcontinental flights, begin rolling out on flights operating between the United States and London (LHR). The kits will roll out across other long-haul international and transcontinental flights throughout the summer.

The kit collection incorporates Shinola’s key blueprint of exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous design, developed exclusively for American Airlines customers to travel in style, while offering the functionality for post-flight use as a keepsake or to organize essentials for future journeys.

Inside each kit, passengers will receive artisan skincare products from perfumers D.S. & Durga, known for their transportive fragrances with rich narratives.

FORMIA has recently launched a sustainability initiative, tied to the company’s wholly integrated sustainability strategy, which sees all eye masks and socks to be made from 100% recycled PET fabrics. As part of this initiative, American Airlines will be the first airline to offer these amenity kits with responsibly produced eye masks and socks, that will carry the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) international certification.

The amenity kit collection is part of a partnership between American Airlines and Shinola which will create an integrated experience for American Airlines passengers.

Shinola, known for assembling world-class clocks with an affinity for unique design, will be creating a limited number of desk clocks, with a dial made entirely from the original metal of American’s iconic fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft. Additionally, later this summer, Shinola wall clocks will be featured in select American Airlines Admirals Club lounges.

“We are delighted to have brought together three strong brands to create a partnership that will give American Airlines’ passengers a truly unique and purposefully designed kit to take home and re-use. We pride ourselves in curating meaningful products and experiences to enhance the customer journey and beyond, and are excited to support the launch of this industry-leading collection.”, commented Roland Grohmann, CEO & Managing Partner of FORMIA.

MORE DETAILS ON THE COLLECTION: Fusing together Shinola’s timeless washbags, duffels and carryall bags, the First Class International amenity bag, in navy and black pebble grain faux leather, with its end to end zip opening and spacious interior makes it an ideal post-flight washbag.

For First Class Transcontinental and Business Class International, the amenity bag pays homage to Shinola’s wristlet wallet. With a combination of canvas and faux-leather, a splashproof inner lining and two stylish colourways – olive and dark navy – the pouches are sure to become collector’s items.

The Business Class Transcontinental and Premium Economy Class amenity bag echos the distinctive wristlet wallet design in navy, featuring two zipper colourway styles – a subtle, minimalist finish and a more playful contrasting colour zipper. Made from recycled PET felt fabric, the bags provide a smart yet sustainable must-have travel accessory.

The amenity kits include skincare products from New York based perfumers, D.S. & Durga, with aromas Rose Atlantic and Radio Bombay in lip balms and lotions. Rose Atlantic is inspired by summers on the New England coast with aromas of wild rose and the salty sea. Radio Bombay takes us on a journey to the ‘ole days of Mumbai as hot copper tubes warm the soft wood releasing the blooms of musk, cream, peach, ambrette, coco and cedar distillates

Shannon Washburn, CEO of Shinola told Amenities“We designed the kits in-house at our Detroit headquarters in collaboration with our onboard amenity partner, FORMIA, who brought our designs to life to feature onboard American Airlines. These well-constructed & thoughtfully curated kits perfectly represent the passenger journey and expectation in each respective cabin. The kits really emulate some of our travel products and speak to the brand and our attention to detail, and are so well-made that we foresee passengers reusing for future trips.”

David Moltz, Founder of DS. & Durga said:“At D.S. & Durga, we tell scented stories that transport you to far off places, and we are excited to partner with American Airlines and Shinola to bring the stories of D.S. to passengers onboard American Airlines. We hope our fragrances inspire and bring joy to passengers throughout their travels and long after.”
