In premium aviation, innovation often hides in plain sight. Sometimes, it is hanging in the wardrobe.
A coat hanger is hardly the first object associated with cabin innovation. Yet Kaelis has turned this everyday essential into an opportunity to rethink how even the smallest onboard details can work harder—for crew, passengers and the environment.
Enter Rotus³, a next-generation Business Class coat hanger designed to bring intelligence to one of the cabin’s most overlooked accessories.
Already adopted by international airlines including Air Côte D’Ivoire, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, Rotus³ replaces paper tags and handwritten labels with a patented three-wheel mechanical selector. During boarding, crew can dial in the passenger’s seat number, making garments easier to identify and retrieve while reducing the risk of misplaced coats.
Its two-digit-and-one-letter configuration is designed for the increasingly complex seat maps found across single- and twin-aisle aircraft. The result is deliberately low-tech, but highly effective: a simple mechanical solution that removes friction from a familiar cabin task.

Evolution, Refined
Rotus³ builds on the earlier Rotus 2, which introduced two-wheel mechanical seat identification but featured a heavier full-frame construction and a more limited numeric system.
The latest iteration takes a more refined approach. Kaelis has removed the traditional lower horizontal bar and optimised the internal reinforcing ribs, reducing material use and overall weight while maintaining structural durability. Anti-slip silicone pads improve garment retention, while the streamlined design increases packaging density—creating greater efficiency in transportation as well.
That matters because sustainable product design is increasingly about more than material selection. It is about looking at the complete lifecycle: what goes into a product, how it is made, how it is transported and how effectively it performs once onboard.
Rotus³ illustrates how those considerations can be embedded into a product without compromising its primary purpose.

Purpose Beyond the Cabin
For Kaelis, that sense of responsibility extends beyond product development.
The company has also been awarded the ‘Empresa Solidaria’ (Solidarity Company) seal by the Plataforma del Tercer Sector, recognising its participation in Spain’s corporate solidarity initiative. The initiative raised nearly €125 million in 2025, supporting programmes for vulnerable communities and promoting greater social inclusion.
For Kaelis, the recognition complements its broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments and its focus on developing sustainable and socially conscious solutions for the global travel market.
At first glance, a smarter coat hanger and a corporate social responsibility initiative may seem worlds apart. But together they reveal a consistent philosophy: look closely at the details, remove unnecessary waste and create value wherever possible.
In the premium cabin, that might mean helping a crew member find a passenger’s coat in seconds. Beyond it, it might mean supporting initiatives that make a tangible difference to communities.
The lesson is simple: meaningful innovation does not always announce itself. Sometimes, it is found in the smallest details—and in what happens beyond them.
