With the arrival of Qantas’ first 787-9 Dreamliner “The Great Southern Land” Qantas has revealed a unique business class amenity kit that will be a must-have among the frequent flying cognoscenti.
A collaboration with Oroton and Australian artists Craig Redman and Karl Maier, who work together as Craig & Karl, the limited-edition kit features a black embossed print by the artistic duo that references the Australian landscape and national cultural icons (the Sydney Opera House being the most obvious). Inside you’ll find a wraparound eye mask that echoes the kit’s print design, as well as Qantas’s range of Aspar products from Aurora Spa Rituals.
Olivia Wirth Qantas Chief Customer speaking with Amenities said, “We are sure the Oroton pouch will enjoy a post-flight life as a designer travel bag. With Oroton’s trademark high quality case and the Craig & Karl design it’s a fantastic and fashionable combination for either an evening clutch or make-up bag.”
The limited-edition kit will be available on Qantas Dreamliner flights between Melbourne and Los Angeles from December 2017 to March 2018.
In 2015 Oroton and Qantas collaborated on an amenity kit design for the new Airbus A330 Business Suite.
“Oroton is a highly regarded Australian brand defined by 80 years of consistent high-quality craftsmanship and we are excited to be working with them again. The design is going to be right at home in our state-of-the-art Dreamliner Business suite.”
Craig & Karl is part of the Qantas Curates program of ‘flying art’ that launched in May 2017, with a collection of 16 kits featuring artwork from some of Australia’s most established and emerging artists.
