FORMIA, a recognized global leader in the development of premium travel amenity kits and comfort items, has recently achieved the prestigious EcoVadis Bronze Medal. This accolade positions the company within the top 26% of over 150,000 organizations evaluated globally for their commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The EcoVadis assessment rigorously examines 21 distinct sustainability criteria organized into four fundamental themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. This comprehensive evaluation approach ensures that the most critical aspects of corporate responsibility are taken into account.

“Our recognition by EcoVadis as a credible global benchmark signifies the substantial strides we have taken towards enhancing our environmental sustainability initiatives, fostering labor and human rights, upholding ethical business practices, and promoting sustainable procurement,” commented Roland Grohmann, CEO and Managing Partner. “This achievement not only acknowledges our current efforts but also outlines a clear and actionable path for us to pursue even greater sustainability milestones in the future.”
EcoVadis’ sustainability ratings are grounded in internationally recognized standards, including the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the conventions from the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, and relevant ISO standards pertinent to sustainability practices. These ratings provide a data-driven analysis of corporate performance in sustainability and deliver an actionable roadmap aimed at facilitating continuous improvement across all areas of corporate responsibility.

At the recent World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE), FORMIA’s Sustainability Zone provided airline partners with an immersive experience that explored the entire product lifecycle. Participants engaged with a range of materials used in airline services, from raw and reclaimed resources to the finished onboard products, all designed to be both tactile and multi-sensory. This engaging showcase effectively bridged the gap between innovative concepts and practical applications, sparking meaningful discussions about actionable strategies to minimize environmental impact. It also highlighted how technological advancements, and creative thinking can catalyze immediate positive change in the industry.
A particularly noteworthy feature of FORMIA’s exhibit was the introduction of a proposed operational model dubbed Circularity-as-a-Service. This initiative is designed to assist airline partners in integrating circular economy principles into their amenity and comfort programs. The framework not only focuses on waste reduction but also emphasizes the recovery of value from materials and a definitive shift away from traditional linear consumption patterns, which often contribute to increased waste and resource depletion.

Freddie Rollason, FORMIA’s Senior Sustainability Manager, articulated the company’s philosophy: “We believe sustainability isn’t just a department—it’s a mindset that should permeate every aspect of our operations.” He continued, “While receiving the EcoVadis medal is a significant acknowledgement of our progress, our vision remains firmly oriented towards the future: we aspire to pioneer innovative approaches that genuinely reduce our environmental impact and set new standards in the industry.”
